Response times kept to a minimum with intelligent design at Rescue Center in Vienna

The Rescue Center by Söhne & Partner Architekten is set on Kaiser-Eberdorferstraße and is responsible for the whole 11th district in Vienna. It officially opened in May 2013.

HENN wins competition for replacement Power Plant in German city of Wedel

On the outskirts of Hamburg, on the banks of the Elbe sits Wedel, where a new, energy-efficient gas and steam turbine power plant is planned for the former coal-fired power station site. The new power station is positioned to the north of the river bank to allow the uninterrupted riverside promenade passage open to the public. While the majority of the existing station has been demolished, individually striking industrial relics and architecturally significant elements, such as the listed machine hall, are retained and put to cultural use.

Primary school in Tower Hamlets provides an abundance of space for young children

A scheme designed by Architecture Initiative has recently been granted planning permission for Woolmore Primary School, a 4-storey new build project at the heart of the Blackwall Reach / Robin Hood Gardens regeneration masterplan. Projected population growth in East London is putting pressure on the education system and more school places are urgently required. Woolmore will provide over 700 places for pupils and create 60 new jobs for the local area.

RTKL designs new facility for CLC to accomodate rising patient intake

Clínica Las Condes'(CLC) ultimate objective is to strengthen their stellar reputation as a medical destination and provider of choice for Chile and South America. Specifically, CLC needed to expand its diagnostic and treatment zones and bed capacity without ceasing current operations.

Fernandes Arquitetos Associados' design for Arena Pernambuco for World Cup 2014 in Brazil

Located in São Lourenço da Mata, the Recife metropolitan area, the Pernambuco Arena will have the capacity to seat 46,000 and will host the games in the group stage and quarter-final of the World Cup 2014. The Arena's surrounding area is partly made up of native forest, the Capibaribe River, water courses and environmental preserved areas, providing a unique character to the development. Furthermore, the location is close to the highway BR-408 and a future avenue that will connect the surrounding neighbourhoods and downtown Recife, making it a strategic location that will allow a fast and efficient access to the public.

2016 Rio Olympic Games venue closed due to structural problems with roof system

One of the key venues for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games has been closed due to structural complications with its roof system. The Joao Havelange Stadium, locally referred to as Engehao due to its location in the neighbourhood of Engenho de Dentro, was designed by Carlos Porto and completed in 2007 for the Pan-American Games. Opening just one month prior to the opening of the Games, the stadium was over budget at $192m, six times the original estimate.

Futuristic, monumental, and boldly curvaceous, Beijing’s Galaxy SOHO complex cuts a striking figure on the city’s skyline. Designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Zaha Hadid, the new mixed-use development comprises four elliptical towers, each rising 15 stories and clad in panels of glass and reflective aluminum. A network of platforms and bridges connects the structures, linking them in one seemingly continuous coil. All together the buildings (which house offices, shops, and entertainment venues) contain nearly 3.6 million square feet of space—the biggest project yet for the famously big thinker.

Largest Hotel in World ( Burj Al Arab )

The Burj Al Arab is a luxurious resort found in Dubai, Joined Persia Emirates. At 321 measures (1,053 ft), it is the highest developing used specifically as a resort.[2] However, the Increased Design, also in Dubai, which has already lead Burj Al Arab's level at 333 m (1,090 ft), will take away this subject upon its beginning.[3][4][5] The Burj Al Persia is on an manufactured region 280 measures (919 ft) out from Jumeirah seaside, and is attached to the landmass by a personal bending fill. It is an well-known structure, designed to indicate Dubai's city change and to imitate the holiday of a vessel.

Immense New Century Global Centre completes in Dayuan Area of Chengdu

The world’s largest building in terms of floor space has been completed in Chengdu. New Century Global Center by the Exhibition and Travel Group is currently undergoing testing prior to an official opening. With two underground levels and 18 storeys above ground, the building has been designed under an oceanic theme with inspiration found in ‘floating whales’ and ‘flying seabirds’.

Mies van der Rohe building in Chicago is transformed into luxury Langham Hotel

Today marks the official opening of The Langham, Chicago at the IBM Building designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The second tallest of Mies van der Rohe’s buildings, the IBM Building was completed in 1972, shortly after the architect's death, and now sits proudly between the Marina City development by Bertrand Goldberg and Trump Tower by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

BIG and DIALOG design new neighbour for Foster + Partners' The Bow in Calgary

BPO provider TELUS has revealed bold plans for a LEED Platinum, $400m, 750,000 sq m residential, office and retail tower metres from the recently-completed The Bow by Foster + Partners in Calgary. Immense structures such as these often take time to connect with local residents but if the comments on a news report from the Calgary Herald are anything to go by, the community has already begun to accept this glittering new addition to their city skyline.

Bierman Henket architecten completes addition to Uitbreiding Museum De Fundatie

On the border of the densely-packed downtown Zwolle and a green expanse of parkland, Bierman Henket architecten have completed an unusual new addition to the Museum de Fundatie. This former courthouse built in 1838 in neo-classical style was in need of expansion but with a constricted site it was agreed that extending upwards was the architects’ only option.

AECOM and Zaha Hadid Architects secure Al Wakrah Stadium contract for FIFA World Cup

Zaha Hadid Architects and AECOM have been selected to act as design consultants on the Al Wakrah Stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Stadium in Qatar. Located on a site 12 miles south of Doha, the stadium will hold 45,000 spectators during the international sporting event and be reduced to a capacity of 20,000 spectators after the FIFA World Cup has come to a close. The stadium will be designed by Albert Speer & Partner GmbH with AECOM and Zaha Hadid Architects as design consultants.

Zaha Hadid Architects' designs for One Thousand Museum in Miami revealed

Images have been revealed of Zaha Hadid Architects’ residential tower in downtown Miami entitled One Thousand Museum. The condominium incorporates 83 residential units anchored by a commercial block on the ground floor which is expected to attract luxury retail brands and restaurants.

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) is the proud new owner of the Design Museum site at Shad Thames, London. In a deal reported to be worth £10m, ZHA purchased the site from the Conran Foundation as the Design Museum prepares to relocate to the former Commonwealth Institute in west London, redesigned by John Pawson.
